What it shows
- Invoices raised in the period, with customer, dates, amounts and balance still due
- In Xero, optional columns such as invoice sent, seen and last payment date
It's also a simple check at month end: the total of invoices raised should line up with income on the Profit and Loss for the same period (allowing for credit notes and tax), and a missing invoice is much easier to spot in a list than in a total.
Where to find it in Xero
In Xero, Receivable Invoice Summary or Receivable Invoice Detail (line by line), under Reporting > All reports.
Settings worth knowing
- Date range, searching by invoice date or due date
- Optional columns such as invoice sent, seen and last payment date
- Ready-made formats such as Top customers
Things to watch out for
- Deleted and voided invoices are included by default, so check the totals before you pass the list on.
Getting it by email on a schedule
Xero can't email reports on a schedule, so the usual routine is to export the report and attach it by hand. Reportpost sends a list of the sales invoices raised in your chosen period, such as last week or last month, with amounts and what's still outstanding. Credit notes raised in the same period are listed as negative lines, so the total is net. Choose weekly, every two weeks, monthly or quarterly, and the recipients. You can try the demo without connecting Xero.
